The Layout
Skookum is a 20 acre plot, with the corners shown in the image. We were lucky to find a natural spring and so we built a springbox to collect and protect the water. A waterline has been installed between a Spring Box and a Cistern that is located at the highest point of the property. A second waterline runs downhill from the Cistern to the cabin site, providing good water pressure with gravity flow.
The water system was the focus in 2022 and we got the walls and roof on the cabin in 2023. Above, Wylie hikes in through October snow in 2023. The cabin was fully enclosed in 2024 with a wood stove and solar electricity to enable year-round visits. Our progress and failures are updated semi-regularly in our Posts.
