I am a little out of sync with the posts. Lately nearly all the work has been devoted to the cistern, and we will soon be shutting down for the winter.
The idea was to backfill as we poured to support the foam outer walls. Besides — can you believe it — we finally got a beautiful sand/gravel mix for the concrete. What could go wrong?
Well, it turns out LOTS could go wrong! We clogged the pump, we thought we broke the pump (Rand had mistakenly flipped the “manual operation” switch), the plywood form blew out, and we ran out of gravel. Too much was going on to get many pictures. But we finally got it done by finishing the top few inches with old fashioned mixing in the tractor bucket.
With the walls finished, we made short work of putting on the lid.
Ye Haw!!!
