Winter is waning, so I thought I would share some pictures of Skookum as spring begins.
I have hiked in 3 times this winter on snowshoes, each trip taking about an hour. The photo above shows the cabin on Feb 17, 2024.
The left photo shows my snowshoe track on a beautiful day in February, and the right shows my tracks on a misty March 30.
There was WAY less snow than last year. The left photo shows the tractor on Feb 17, 2024 with the snow just over the box blade. The middle photo shows the tractor on March 30, 2024 with the snow below the top of the box blade. The right photo shows the tractor on April 9, 2023 (last year) with the snow almost over the tractor!
Wylie in front of the cabin on April 14. You can see the tractor in the background totally free of snow. There was snow hiking in, and it will still be a while before we can drive in, but the season looks like it will start early this year. Hopefully it’s not a bad smoke year!
These strange scratch marks showed up on the flooring insulation since my last visit. Bear? Lion? I don’t know.
