There has been a lull in the activity at Skookum. The poor snow season eased into an uninteresting spring, and then I went to Europe with Wylie and an old college roommate, Kipper. This post is short and devoted to our Europe trip.
Our favorite day was early in the trip when we went to the top of a Swiss ski area, left photo. Much of our time was devoted to eating and wandering about. And really not much more than that. Gelato played a big role. Wylie was usually conservative with his meals, but twice he went for tartar, which is uncooked beef with raw egg, right photo.
I took a lot of pictures, and there wasn’t a good one in the batch, so I’ll keep the obligatory city-scenes brief. Above is Wylie in Budapest (left) and in Venice (right).
A sampling of pizzas, Wylies primary form of nourishment.
One of the hotels we stayed at dates back to the 1400’s and they had several pictures, such as above, that included a head on a platter. I have heard the phrase of course, and my brother once got into some trouble for suggesting that he’d like to see a certain incompetent president’s head on a platter, but I had never seen it displayed so graphically. My guess is that this is what happened to guests who didn’t pay their bill. I paid mine.
Interesting.
