July 12 2025

It has been a while since my last post, largely because there have not been any major updates. Highlights include: (1) A visit from Maxey, Tom, Morgan, and Lisa; and (2) The new truck finally came in! Other progress is also described below.

I finally got my new truck. Since then I ordered a ladder rack so I could haul up long materials, and of course it came in missing parts. The struggle continues…

Chinking

Wylie did a bunch of chinking and completed all the walls. There is additional chinking to do on the purlins and ridge pole, plus some touch-up.

Gables

The gables have foam insulation (left photo), which is covered with batt insulation, which is covered with a vapor barrier (right photo). This should keep the cabin warm in the winter.

The gables are sheeted and we’ve begun putting on the tongue and groove, the final layer.

Electrical

When it comes to electrical work, the word that best describes me is “coward.” However, I finally got all the wiring done in the gables and with Morgan’s help, I have a plan that should get me close to the end of the wiring.

Plumbing

“Coward” is also an apt description of me when it comes to plumbing. Cautiously, I am easing into the rough-in drain system. The left image shows the hole for the shower drain and the right photo shows a start on the plumbing for the kitchen sink.

  1. New truck, gables sheeted in, chinking done, and the wiring and plumbing well on the way. At this rate, I don’t think there will be anything for Logan and I to do in August. Keep up the good work.
