March 16, 2025

I’ve made two trips up to Skookum and on each trip I put on a coat of Polyurethane on the ceiling, so the ceiling should be all but done. The first trip was in February when we had great snow, and then a big melt came that really knocked down the snow.

The left photo was taken on February 22 and the right photo was taken on March 16 after the big melt. There’s still quite a lot of snow, but as you can see by the tractor before and after, there has been a LOT of melting!

The snow on the north side of the cabin slid off into what I’m guessing is close to a 5 foot pile.

In February (left photo), the outhouse looked good, but it had a big pile of snow on top. In March (right photo), you could see that part of the outhouse roof had been destroyed. This impacted the ambiance of the outhouse but fortunately the paper was only a little damp.

The solar system for the hot water system was clearly working well, as the water in the tank was almost 157 degrees. As you would guess, the cellar was cosy warm.

As some of you may know, it’s been a bit of a rodeo getting my new truck. I wrote a script for Wylie to put up a YouTube clip, but he didn’t want to do it so I did. Sadly, the clip is more accurate than it should be (although I did take some liberties). As much as it’s a rag on the local Ford dealership, it’s also poking black humor at me as I let them get away with it.

I’ll end this post with a photo of morning colors. Even after all the time I have spent up there, I still gasp at the view.
