Logan returned from Alabama, but there was a delay in getting an excavator. And of course there is the never ending saga of getting gravel. During this time we made progress with the spring and spring box, plus I showed the road to another trucking company who decided not to deliver gravel.

The good news is an excavator “should” be delivered soon, I found a person with a single-axel dump truck who will try to deliver gravel in a little over a week, and we’ve made decent progress with the spring, and the spring box, plus the form and metal are in place for the cistern floor.

We also put up the solar panel array, with Logan and Wylie teaming up to complete the job.

Stages of the cistern floor.

The spring is nearly done, now completely enclosed, with mesh covering the overflow channel to keep varmints out, and some insulation on top. A layer of plastic will go over the top and then we will bury it under about a foot of dirt.

We are nearly done with the spring box. Steel pan-decking forms the roof base, with concrete on top, then insulated with 4 inches of foam, covered with plastic, and finally buried. A little more dirt will be added when we get the excavator.
