Normally, winter is my favorite season at Skookum but winter didn’t happen this year. I made 3 trips to Skookum since my previous post and the only noteworthy news was the lack of snow.
After the debacle of nearly tipping my truck off the road, I have been parking at the bottom of the hill even when I could have driven further. The photo above shows the road from where I park on January 31 with almost no snow.
The above two photos show Skookum at the end of February (left photo) and the end of March (right photo). I actually could have driven all the way to the cabin at the end of March. The spring was flowing, but just barely. This could be a very, very bad smoke year!
Not much work has been done lately, but I did chink the last purlin, as shown above.
It’s good to hear you are getting up to Skookum and not working. The place should be enjoyed without work, and you will have to adjust to that, but I think you can handle it.
